Job description

Groundskeeper
Schedule: Full-Time, Days
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine to skilled maintenance duties involving mowing, trimming, planting, plowing, shoveling and salting. Performs a variety of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on lawn care and snow removal equipment and other related duties with priority given to patient, staff, visitor safety. Requires sound judgement and rapid decision making abilities during system failures to avoid injury to persons or damage to equipment. The worker may be required to perform any and all duties listed below
Duties:
Required to attend mandatory training and pass any associated test
Required to utilize program for work orders, PMs, and tasks
Talks with director about concerns or issues
Prioritizes and plans out daily work routine to keep up with work orders and PMs
At times can be required to perform Security duties
At times works with Maintenance staff to move furniture and or supplies
Has the ability to supervise and work with students performing community service
Trouble shoots problems, orders parts, and completes repairs to equipment
Contacts manufacturer for technical assistance when needed and helps place orders for service and or repairs
Operates hand tools and or power tools
Completes minor repairs to electrical systems of equipment
Inspects and performs tests on lawn sprinkler systems and equipment.
Reports any safety and or fire hazards found while performing job
Reports any Security violations found
Conducts rounds of campus to ensure sidewalks are maintained and proper operation of equipment
Ensures that bottles are properly labeled with chemical being used
Ensures that equipment is in proper location
Reports defective equipment to Facilities office
Reports hazards to department director and or facilities office
Adheres to Infection Control policies – follows procedures
Assists in evacuations or other emergency actions when necessary
At times may be requested to transport bio hazard wastes on campus – clinics to hospital
Qualifications:
Previous experience in lawncare is a plus
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal communication skills while interacting with others
Excellent written communications for creating reports and reporting issues
High school diploma and trade school or prior work experience
Ability to build and maintain a good working relationship with others
Must have a reliable phone
Must have a valid drivers license and be able to meet insurance requirements
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work from ladders, stoop, bend, and push or pull carts and equipment
Must be able to stand, or walk for long periods, and be able to respond quickly to incidents
Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies or high pressure situations
Must be mentally and physically fit in the event of high risk interactions
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
Must be able to understand and follow lock out / tag out procedures
