Requirements:

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Billing and Coding:

  • Assign accurate codes to diagnoses, treatments, and procedures for client records using standardized coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
  • Ensure all codes are correctly applied for billing and reimbursement purposes.
  • Review patient charts and other documentation to verify coding accuracy.

Claims Processing:

  • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance providers to maximize timely payments.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, correcting and resubmitting as necessary.
  • Work closely with insurance companies to resolve claim disputes and rejections.

Financial Reconciliation:

  • Assist in reconciling accounts receivable and processing patient payments.
  • Manage client accounts, including invoicing, payment plans, and balance inquiries.
  • Prepare monthly reports on billing activity and revenue collection.

Compliance and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements regarding patient privacy and billing practices.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local billing regulations to ensure ethical and legal coding and billing.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy.
  • Act as a resource for administrative and clinical staff regarding billing and coding issues.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and provide assistance in understanding their financial obligations.

Other Related Duties:

  • Stay updated on coding changes and industry trends to ensure ongoing accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in staff training sessions to improve billing and coding efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications?

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed

below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

to perform this job.?

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in healthcare administration is a plus.
  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) or equivalent certification.
  • Prior experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, and knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to explain billing processes to clients and team members.
  • Exceptional accuracy in coding and financial reconciliation.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
