Description

Manage quality personnel to effectively support day-to-day operations. Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS), ensure ISO 9001 compliance, drive internal auditing efforts, and partner with leadership to maintain the highest standards of product quality and operational excellence.


JOB SUMMARY:  

Maintain a high standard of internal and external customer service through root-cause analysis and leading corrective action activities for quality-related issues and complaints. 

Supervise quality personnel to ensure strong productivity, accuracy, and technical compliance. 

Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical data and product specifications to define quality standards and reliability expectations. 

Establish, document, and maintain quality documents, forms/records, CAPA logs and ongoing quality objectives. 

Collaborate with production and cross-functional leadership to align quality objectives with manufacturing process optimization. 

Develop, document and implement inspection criteria, methods, and procedures across operations. 

Oversee and support inspection activities throughout all stages of the production lifecycle. 

Supports Purchasing to ensure the quality and compliance of incoming materials, components, special processes. 

Actively participate in internal continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams. 

Design, develop, and deliver quality control training programs to support organizational needs.

Oversee and support FAI and PPAP activities, as required.

Reviews instructions, prints and process specifications to determine product requirements and conformance to ISO 9001 & company standards.

Oversee and support the execution of internal audit planning including qualifying and scheduling of internal auditors.

Coordinates collection and preparation of quality reports for management including assigned KPIs.

Analyzes inspection and non-conformance data to provide summary or trend reports, as required.

Manages third party assessment audits from firms such as UL and ETL/Intertek.

Reviews staff's work performance by completing performance appraisals.

Resolves or facilitates staff work problems or concerns.

Recommends personnel actions, such as training, promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.

May be required to follow other job-related instructions and duties, as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of quality engineering or quality-related experience in metal fabrication and/or powder coat painting.

Previous supervisory experience.

ISO 9001:2015 QMS experience.

Ability to read prints with working knowledge of GD&T and strong shop mathematics.

Strong leadership, decision making, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Multi-tasker with good time management skills.

Proficiency with inspection equipment and precision measuring instruments and management software. 

MS Office suite proficiency.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

ASQ Certifications (Certified Quality Engineer/CQE preferred)

FAI, PC-DMIS CMM, InspecVision, Virtek software experience.  


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk about the facility to access and move materials.


WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility. Combination office and factory work that involves sitting, walking, standing, bending and lifting.
