Bilingual employees in a manufacturing plant often bridge communication gaps between diverse teams, which can be both rewarding and challenging. They may face difficulties such as translating technical jargon accurately or balancing translation duties with their primary job responsibilities. To overcome these challenges, it's helpful to seek ongoing training in technical terminology, establish clear communication protocols, and collaborate closely with supervisors to prioritize tasks. Building strong relationships across teams also ensures smoother information flow and fosters a more inclusive work environment.

Job description

Join the team of one of the most successful, growing cabinet manufacturing companies in Texas, in business since 1971.
We are a fun group that works closely together to ensure customers have an excellent experience purchasing products from our company. We are looking for leaders, innovators, thinkers and doers who are willing to prove themselves in fast paced and challenging positions, who desire real growth and a long term career opportunity.
We offer excellent pay, full-time employment, medical, dental, vision, 401k and paid time off. Standard days worked are Monday-Friday with occasional overtime and Saturday during busy times.
Burrows Cabinets LLC is seeking a seasoned Plant Manager to lead manufacturing operations from the front, drive accountability, and inspire the production team to perform at its highest level. This individual must balance operational excellence with strong people leadership, restoring operational efficiency and ensuring the plant operates at full capacity to support growing sales demand. The primary focus is on stabilizing operations while preserving the company's employee-focused culture and reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.
This is a senior role for a proven operator who can identify operational weaknesses, establish visible standards, and drive measurable improvements in an environment where lead time, quality, and machine capacity are deeply interconnected.
Responsibilities:
Quality, Lead Time, and On-Time Shipment
  • Maintain and improve lead times.
  • Own the production schedule and ensure strict adherence to customer-committed ship dates.
  • Treat customer commitments as operational mandates, reducing missed commitments and avoidable delays.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks to ensure smooth throughput across all manufacturing stages.
  • Establish realistic daily output goals and clear escalation protocols when commitments are at risk.

Leadership and Accountability
  • Strengthen the leadership structure by leading through supervisors and leads, setting clear expectations for their performance.
  • Establish and maintain consistent daily operations and address weak or inconsistent leadership practices on the floor.
  • Develop emerging leaders within the production team while maintaining a high standard of individual accountability.
  • Create visible standards for operational performance and ensure consistency.

Quality Standards and Process Discipline
  • Establish, clarify, and enforce quality expectations throughout the entire production process, not just at final inspection.
  • Reduce rework, remakes, and defects.
  • Implement standard work procedures and corrective action protocols.
  • Cultivate a culture where quality standards are understood and consistently enforced by every team member.

Machine Capacity, Utilization, and Maintenance
  • Maximize the utilization and return on investment of existing machinery and equipment.
  • Improve machine uptime and operator discipline through strict adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Partner with the maintenance department to ensure equipment reliability directly supports production goals.
  • Ensure all machinery is properly staffed, scheduled, and operated to its full potential to minimize production delays.

Multilingual Workforce Leadership
  • Effectively lead and motivate a majority Spanish-speaking workforce within a multilingual production environment.
  • Eliminate communication gaps by utilizing translators, bilingual leads, visual standards, written procedures, and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Ensure all operational expectations and safety regulations are clearly understood by both English and Spanish-speaking employees.
  • Build trust and engagement across the team.

Measures of Success
  • Maintain and improve lead times.
  • Improve on-time shipment performance against committed ship dates.
  • Reduce late orders, missed commitments, schedule changes, and preventable delays.
  • Increase throughput using existing equipment, labor, and plant capacity.
  • Improve machine utilization, uptime, operator discipline, and preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Reduce customer-impacting defects, remakes, rework, and quality escapes.
  • Clarify and enforce quality standards across the entire plant.
  • Strengthen supervisor and lead accountability.
  • Improve communication and execution across a multilingual workforce.
  • Reduce bottlenecks, downtime, poor handoffs, and recurring production problems.
  • Create a safer, cleaner, more organized, and more disciplined manufacturing environment.
  • Stabilize plant operations without damaging Burrows Cabinet's employee-focused culture.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive production management experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically within woodworking, cabinetry, or millwork.
  • Demonstrated success stepping into an underperforming manufacturing operation, identifying weaknesses, and driving measurable improvements.
  • Strong experience improving underperforming teams and strengthening leadership accountability through supervisors and leads.
  • Proven expertise in woodworking machinery, material flow, and the processes involved in manufacturing.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills; Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred.
  • A strong floor presence with a high sense of urgency and sound judgment.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move about the factory floor for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with noise, airborne particles, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Visual acuity required to inspect parts for quality control at close range.

We are always searching for skilled employees who are dependable, hardworking, have a great attitude and are committed to providing exceptional quality while meeting customer deadlines.
We need the best to be the best!
Your application will remain on file. You will be contacted directly when a position becomes available that meets your qualifications.
