Description
The Distribution Center Assistant Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational excellence of the site, ensuring consistent application of standard operating procedures, polices and Key Performance Indicators are achieved. This role is responsible for site financials including P& L management and will lead and manage all employment related activity for site team members.
Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee all elements of distribution center operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and route management. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all picking, receiving, put away, load/ship of all orders, product returns.
  • Ensure SOPs are consistently applied to achieve operational performance indicators.
  • Responsible for the protection of company assets which includes inventory, equipment, and facility. Maintains the facility, equipment and vehicles and will resolve any issues which may interfere with the safe, efficient, and least cost operation of the Distribution Center.
  • Manage labor, delivery, and other variable costs within your building to align with annual business plans.
  • Manage and report on the performance (KPIs) of the building; Customer Service (Net Promoter Score, On time Delivery), Productivity (Units per Hour, Minimal rework) and cost performance (Delivery costs, labor costs).
  • Drive team members accountability and performance ensuring company policies are administered appropriately.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Direct subordinate team members within the distribution center with a focus on maximizing performance (KPIs); Customer Service (Net Promoter Score, On time Delivery), Productivity (Units per Hour, Minimal rework) and cost performance (Delivery costs, labor costs).
  • Drive company safety initiates to ensure safe and on time delivery of products to customers inclusive of specific safety performance requirements (TRIR-Total Reportable Incidence Rate) and Preventable Accident rates)
  • Collaborate with Wholesale and Franchise sales teams to meet established service level agreements and identify opportunities for improved customer service
  • Drive initiatives that foster an Employer of Choice environment and employee experience
  • Ensure compliance with the company and regulatory training to ensure that staff is equipped to perform assigned duties.
  • Partners with Human Resources to lead the execution of employment cycle activities for team members within site, including hiring, training, performance management and succession

Continued Responsibilities
  • Observe operations with a critical eye, bringing forth ideas for continuous improvement updates or redesigns of Standard Operating Procedures to improve efficiency, cost, or customer satisfaction.
  • Lead implementation of building initiatives related to technology, cost containment, inventory management, safety, training, engagement, etc. Ensure successful adoption of new behaviors and skills needed for new expectations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and allocation to meet operational and financial goals while maintaining a standard of excellence in customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A 4-year degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, Business or other related disciplines is preferred or equivalent experience in warehouse distribution or transportation environment.
  • Minimum of (2) years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated management experience including leadership and motivational ability, time management and organizational skills, training, coaching and counseling preferred
  • Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to work well under pressure (prioritize, manage time, maintain composure.)
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology and proven success driving change in a dynamic environment
  • Safety 1st Mentality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds while bending and twisting
  • Must maintain a current driver's license
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights holidays and weekends, as needed.
  • 24/7 access to cell phone, email and security system in case of an emergency
  • ERP system and Routing Software experience is a plus.
  • High level of professional integrity
  • Bilingual in Spanish /English is a plus
