Prep Cook - Big Chill Beach Club

Job Description


Summary of Position: The Prep Cook at the Big Chill Beach Club will cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List. Must Enjoy the Ride!
Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Complete opening and closing checklists
  • Refer to the Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Promptly report equipment and food quality problems to the Kitchen Manager
  • Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages
  • Use our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products prepared
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
  • Live the brand and be a brand ambassador; make decisions in the best interest of the restaurant every time
Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years full-service restaurant kitchen experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States
  • Must possess strong understanding of cooking methods amp; procedures, and knife handling skills
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
  • Ability to read amp; follow cooking directions and other instructions pertaining to the position
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic written amp; verbal communication skills
  • Must be organized with a self-starter amp; motivated work ethic
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, lift, and carry heavy materials up to 50lbs
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexibility of schedule to assume responsibilities as needed; ability to balance personal and professional life
