Job description

Overland Park, Kansas – Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of related experience, a strong technical background, and a passion for the profession. This position will play a key role in analyzing and designing projects for DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and a commitment to becoming a key member of our design team. This role is supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic and safety studies
  • Conduct traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Develop traffic signal timing plans
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
Additional Duties
  • Assist with project management to identify scopes, fees, and monitor progress
  • Maintain a client-focused attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in project pursuits
  • Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships within service area
  • Mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 4-8 years of experience with traffic-specific projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual
  • Experience in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
  • Proficiency with traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
  • Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including spatial crash data analysis
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
