Job description

Infrastructure Deployment Engineer
This is a full-time exempt (40+ hours/week), remote and travel-heavy contract role located in the United States.
Summary
Subject matter expert in fiber optics, structured cabling, and data center physical infrastructure responsible for overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of large-scale physical installation projects.
This role ensures deployments are executed according to engineering design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements while partnering closely with engineering teams, contractors, and facility operations to support successful datacenter turn-ups.
The position drives quality assurance, validation, documentation, and readiness across multiple concurrent infrastructure deployment projects.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee physical infrastructure deployment projects across data center environments, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and operational expectations
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineering teams, facility operations, and stakeholders to manage deployment execution and validate installation quality
  • Manage contractor schedules and support multi-site deployment coordination activities
  • Perform QA/QC inspections on rack installations, server/device deployments, cable routing, grounding, and labeling standards
  • Validate fiber optic installations using OTDR testing, OLTS analysis, insertion/return loss evaluations, and optical power measurements
  • Verify copper cabling integrity and compliance using certified testing equipment
  • Review and interpret rack elevations, fiber schematics, technical drawings, and deployment documentation for constructability and accuracy
  • Generate as-built documentation, deployment reports, and root cause analysis (RCA) documentation for infrastructure issues
  • Provide remote hands support for engineering teams during deployment and validation activities
  • Support infrastructure standards, cable management best practices, and deployment readiness initiatives for operations teams

Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure deployment, structured cabling, or mission-critical environments
  • Strong foundation in fiber optics, structured cabling systems, and physical infrastructure standards
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Visio, OTDR testing tools, optical power meters, and cable certification platforms
  • Familiarity with BICSI standards, structured cabling methodologies, IT service operations frameworks, and hyperscale data center environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and quality assurance mindset across physical infrastructure layers
  • Experience working with contractors, engineering teams, facility operations, and project managers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication skills with high attention to detail and documentation discipline
  • Leadership mindset with ability to coach teams and drive accountability in deployment environments
