Position Overview

The Product Manager, Financial Planning Platforms is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, delivery, and ongoing optimization of the firm's financial planning platforms, workflows, and supporting technology ecosystem. This role serves as the primary liaison between Financial Planning, Advisory, Operations, Technology, and external vendor partners to ensure solutions effectively support business objectives, advisor productivity, and client outcomes. The Product Manager partners with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for process improvement, translate business needs into scalable technology solutions, and drive initiatives from discovery through implementation and adoption. This role combines product management, business analysis, and project leadership responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on platform innovation, emerging AI-enabled capabilities, operational efficiency, and continuous enhancement of the advisor and client experience. Through these efforts, the Product Manager helps equip Blue Trust advisors to deliver financial advice that integrates biblical wisdom and technical expertise in support of the firm's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for financial planning platforms and capabilities, from opportunity identification and discovery through implementation, deployment, adoption, and ongoing optimization. 
  • Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for financial planning platforms, ensuring alignment with firm objectives, advisor needs, and client experience goals. 
  • Partner with key stakeholders, Technology, Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS), Operations, Compliance, vendors, and end users to understand business needs, identify pain points, and drive successful delivery outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on advisor and operational workflows, ensuring proposed solutions align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and user experience expectations. 
  • Lead discovery sessions, requirements workshops, solution demonstrations, and working sessions with cross-functional teams to gather feedback, validate concepts, and drive decision-making. 
  • Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog priorities, while owning prioritization and scope decisions. 
  • Identify risks, surface issues, document trade-offs, and recommend solutions to support effective decision-making and successful execution. 
  • Build and maintain strategic vendor relationships, including platform evaluations, contract discussions, and ongoing partnership management. 
  • Lead and manage AI-driven initiatives and business use cases, including workflow design, prompt engineering, testing, and implementation of emerging capabilities. 
  • Develop and maintain training, communications, and enablement resources to support advisor and planner adoption of financial planning tools and processes. 
  • Lead and manage support processes for escalated issues related to the financial planning technology ecosystem, ensuring effective issue resolution and continuous improvement. 
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and financial planning platforms, making recommendations that enhance advisor effectiveness and client outcomes. 
  • Manage platform budgets, vendor expenses, and related financial administration, including invoice approvals and cost allocation coordination.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in product management, business analysis, project management, or a related role supporting technology-enabled business solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead requirements discussions, facilitate cross-functional working sessions, and translate business needs into actionable technology solutions and deliverables.
  • Experience supporting technology initiatives through the full project lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing, release readiness, implementation, and post-launch support.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including developing and managing project plans, coordinating cross-functional resources, tracking risks and dependencies, and communicating status to stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and influence outcomes across business, operational, and technology teams.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of advisor and client service workflows within wealth management, financial planning, or related financial services environments.
  • Desire to serve advisors, planners, and business partners with excellence.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Education, Experience & Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in business administration, finance, accounting, financial planning, computer science, business analytics, or post-graduate degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years' prior product management experience required.
  • A wide breadth of prior experience with various industry FinTech applications preferred. 
  • Experience with Kanban, the Scaled Agile Framework, Agile, or Scrum processes is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite (SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with AI Agent Development Preferred 

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

  • Additional industry education and credentials are a plus, such as a Master of Financial Planning, MBA, or CPA.
  • Product Management and Agile certifications are preferred but not required.

Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required, by air or other reasonable means of transportation.
