Job description

Andworx is hiring a Power BI Developer to develop visually pleasing and accurate data visualizations, reports, and dashboards for our federal government customer. As a candidate, you should be experienced with collaborating as part of a team in the advanced development of rich data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.

We are looking for a hands-on doer who enjoys working in a fast-paced customer focused environment, who has a background in data analysis and an eye for creating good looking dashboards that tell stories enabling data driven decisions while placing a high importance on user experience, usability, and design. You should be comfortable interacting with stakeholders to elicit requirements in an agile and iterative environment to develop beautiful data visualizations.

Please Note: This position has a hybrid work schedule of up to 2 days per week on-site work with our customer. Candidates must be within a commutable distance to the Washington, DC metro area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of experience creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations with 5 or more years specifically using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience ingesting information, transforming data, and building relationships with data from various feeds.
  • Experience presenting dashboards and quantitative data to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Comprehensive experience with relational database architecture and navigating large data sets, querying sources such SQL Servers, SharePoint Lists, Excel Spreadsheets, 3rd party connectors, including advanced BI solutions with Microsoft SQL Server technologies (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, etc.).
  • Expertise with ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of Power BI-driven reporting ecosystems including query tuning.
  • Strong analytical skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate data and information in the BI environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and relationship building skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities or tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree OR High School diploma plus 12 years of relevant work experience.
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Position of Trust background security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data modeling, cleansing, and transformation utilizing a tool set including Power BI, SQL, or Power Query, R, Python, etc.
  • Technical certifications related to Microsoft Power BI, database design, or data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Tableau or broader experience with Microsoft Power Platform is a nice to have (Power Automate, Power Apps).

Responsibilities

Show your passion for visual story telling using Microsoft Power BI by leveraging your business intelligence and data analytics experience to construct visually pleasing, rich data visualizations.

  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards, using industry best practices and standards.
  • Identify, analyze, and translate business requirements and rules into intuitive analytical solutions, business scorecards and management dashboards.
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders to easily visualize data from multiple sources in a single platform to aid in the design and development of complex business solutions.
  • Provide operational support for existing Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Understand reporting database models and schemas and perform data analysis.
  • Connect to various data sources to import and transform data into Power BI.
  • Participate in large projects to migrate Tableau reports/dashboards into Power BI.
  • Collaborate in solutioning efforts in the Power BI environment addressing problems, tuning for performance, and diagnosing issues to resolve application bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Create written and visual data reports and analysis.
  • Provide end-user training, technical demonstrations, and presentations to stakeholders.
