Job Description

1. Rapidly developing dimensional models or analytical data sets based on specific business requirements. Experience in ER - dimensional model design and implementation of STAR and SNOWFLAKE schemas is a must.

2. Work with the Architecture and Governance team to set strategy for conformed dimensions, and enterprise hierarchy etc.

3. Transform Logical Data Models into Physical Data Design for the IBM DB2 database, for the both the Integration and Access Layers in the three tier architecture.

4. Engage with Data Architects, Directors and Business Users to understand data access paths and business use.

5. Apply appropriate Denormalization and Audit Balance and Control columns.

6. Perform data profiling, and business rules investigations on source data, to ensure correct design of the Integration and Access layers.

7. Map and document data transformations of data from a business terms perspective.

8. Support project delivery teams in assessing their resource needs to deliver the Integration and Access layers.

Required Skills

Dimensional Modeling

o At least 5 year hands on experience designing and implementing Star Schemas

o At least 5 year experience implementing Data Warehouse presentation layer - including design and definition of logical tables, physical sources, dimensions, columns, aggregation rules

o At least 5 year experience in writing advanced SQL queries, views, and optimization of SQL queries

o Comprehensive Knowledge of Ralph Kimball's Data Modeling Concepts including Transaction dimensions, conformed dimensions and facts, slowly changing dimension, multi-Star/ Snowflake Schema Modeling, different types of Fact tables

o Implementing a virtual semantic layer (virtual star schema) using views on a multi-tiered normalized Integrated Operational Data Store is a huge plus

3NF (Relational) Logical and Physical Modeling

o This position is not focused on 3NF data modeling but experience with 3NF models is required

o At least 2 year hands on experience with 3NF Data Modeling and NORMALIZED schema

o Comprehensive Knowledge of Bill Inmon's Data Modeling Concepts (Logical and Physical) including 3NF, Supertypes, Subtypes, Abstraction, Associative entities / tables

o Experience with IBM DB2 Physical Modeling and Performance Tuning

Business Intelligence

o This position is not focused on BI platform but rather on the data platforms, but experience with BI platforms is required

o Hands-on experience with BI application architecture and development

o Hands-on experience in designing technical architecture, installation and configuration of BI Stack components

o Extensive knowledge in Presentation layer such as MOLAP, ROLAP, HOLAP, Ad-hoc reports.

o Experience creating mockup reports, demo, & storyline a plus
