General Summary

The Mortgage Post-Closer handles the final stages of a mortgage transaction, ensuring that all necessary documentation and information are in order. The Post Closer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: reviewing closed loan packages, obtaining missing documents or signatures, submitting loans for government insurance and facilitating the sale of loans. The Post Closer will coordinate with various team members, closing agents, and all parties involved in the transaction to ensure that documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews closed loan packages for compliance and completeness.
  • Prepares files, gathers missing information, and promptly delivers loan packages to investors
  • Manages and resolves problems or issues that arise with loan documentation.
  • Ensures that all requested purchasing conditions from the end investor are gathered and returned promptly to facilitate swift purchasing.
  • Guarantees the accuracy of collateral and ensures that original documents are promptly delivered to the investor.
  • Secures government mortgage insurance as required.
  • Oversees the tracking, receipt, and timely delivery of final documentation to investors.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
  • Supports and participates in community activities and initiatives.
  • Other duties necessary to meet business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the mortgage industry is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office and Windows, as well as Encompass Loan Origination System.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage industry regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of different mortgage loan types.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as working well in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt easily in an ever-changing technological environment.
