Wright Beverage Distributing is looking for a Driver Helper to join our team! You will receive training and development with the opportunity to grow. POSITION VISION
To safely assist the driver in making accurate deliveries of products to customers on a timely basis.
QUANTIFIABLE POSITION OBJECTIVES
1. Reports to work on time wearing a clean and neat company uniform.
2. Assists the driver with daily DOT truck safety inspection report.
3. Assists Driver with checking fluid levels before starting the truck.
4. Loads and verifies all BBLs and add on orders to truck before leaving on delivery route.
5. May assist driver with invoices when necessary and collects payments for COD accounts.
6. Picks up empty cases, kegs and soda trays at every delivery.
7. Returns undelivered product, breakage, empties and pallets to proper warehouse locations
8. Assists the driver with invoices when necessary and collect payments for COD accounts (Driver is responsible for all cash and invoice totals).
9. Assists with keeping trucks clean inside and out daily including inside bays and trailer
10. Reports to Operations Manager and Mechanics any issues with the truck, trailer and handcart
11. Reports to IT Manager, Operation Manager any issues with handheld and printer
12. Assists the driver as a spotter when truck is backing up. The helper must be outside and at the rear of the truck to perform this function.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
1. Uphold customer service philosophy and exemplify company standards while executing business activities.
2. Strive to build and maintain favorable reputation of WBD to fulfill the vision of being the Preferred Supplier with our customers.
3. Answer and satisfy customer complaints whenever possible to build positive business relationships.
MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Education:
    • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
    • Preferred: 2 years Associates Degree
  • Skills:
    • Minimum: Strong communication skills. Able to handle a hand cart loaded with product. Must be able to operate hand/held printer. Must be certified in forklift, walkie rider, electric and pallet jack
    • Preferred: Hold a valid, clean NYS Commercial Class A drivers license that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum: 1-year experience in a beverage distribution business
    • Preferred: Previous delivery experience in a beverage distribution business

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and stack, 1 case of can (21 pounds), 1 case of 12oz bottles (38 pounds), 1 case of 40 oz bottles (48 pounds) and½ barrels weighting 175 pounds 3 feet off the ground; stand; continuous use of hands and arms to reach for product. The employee is frequently required climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS
Expected to represent brands across all Wright territories. Must be comfortable interacting with retail accounts. Majority of workday and work is outside and exposed to all weather conditions.
