The Director Retail Sales will be responsible for leading and managing the retail sales team to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth for in the use of sustainable fiber packaging for retailer private label consumer goods as well as overall influence on fiber solutions for their brand suppliers. In partnership with the broader Americas Sales team, this position will develop and implement effective sales strategies, build, and maintain strong customer relationships, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch and ongoing sales performance of private-label packaging. The Director of Sales will play a crucial role in driving profitability and expanding market share in the retail private label segment, will be critical in driving high velocity growth via plastic replacement, fiber based sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute sales strategies and tactics to drive retail private label packaging sales, revenue growth, and market penetration within the retail industry.
  2. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Retailers and the identification of growth and development opportunities. The aim is to succeed in building identified opportunities into long-term profitable business, through professional and proactive relationships.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail customers, understanding their needs and requirements, ESG commitments, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  4. Develop new and organic business opportunities both directly with the Retailer and in conjunction with National, Regional and Beverage Accounts team in order to expand market share.
  5. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, S&OP, product development, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure successful product launches and ongoing sales support within the retail industry.
  6. Work closely with retailers, co-packers, and co-manufacturers to leverage relationships and market intelligence. Be familiar with all the details about the cooperation between these stakeholders within the Retailer Private Label segment.
  7. Monitor sales performance, analyze data, and prepare regular reports to track progress towards sales targets and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and pricing strategies to optimize profitability and achieve financial objectives aligned with the overall Americas Sales objectives and strategies.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and customer preferences within the retail consumer packaged goods industry to proactively adjust sales strategies and seize emerging opportunities.
  10. Manage projects and developments within the business to support the relationship with the Retailer and ensure an appropriate level of customer focus is achieved.
  11. Managing Retailer ranges and product launches in conjunction with internal sales
  12. Attending reviews and pre-production meetings off site as necessary
  13. Distribute regular project tracking updates and end of year reporting for Retailers.
  14. Provide regular internal Retail progress reports, dashboard, and pipeline trackers.

Required Experience

  1. Existing top-to-top relationships with Retailer Merchants, co-packers and co-manufacturers, product managers and buyers
  2. Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  3. Proven experience (5 years) in sales leadership roles within the CPG industry, with a focus on private-label products.
  4. Strong track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth within the retail private label industry.
  5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team. Demonstrated experience in hiring and developing talent.
  6. In-depth knowledge of private label sales strategies, market dynamics, and customer relationship management within the CPG industry.
  7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and negotiate business agreements within the CPG industry.
  8. Experience and proficiency in CPG-related sales channels and distribution networks.
  9. Analytical mindset with proficiency in sales data analysis and reporting within the CPG industry.
  10. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  11. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach within the CPG industry.
  12. Able to identify areas of weakness within processes and Retailer specific procedures and help find innovative solutions
  13. Proficiency in using Sales Force software and other sales management tools within the CPG industry.
