• The Psychiatrist conducts face-to-face interviews with mentally ill inmate-youths for crisis help. Assess them in their cells, which may require climbing stairs and walking.
• Perform initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse history, to understand their needs and plan treatment.
• Assess suicide risk thoroughly, review records, and document findings.
• Prescribe medication as needed, following guidelines.
• Interpret lab results and refer to medical services if needed.
• The Psychiatrist modifies treatment plans based on progress.
• Build relationships with families for better treatment outcomes.
• Be available on-call for emergencies.
• Maintain order and prevent escapes or injuries.

• Must have an MD/DO degree.
• Must have a minimum of twelve continuous months of experience within the last three years, performing services similar in scope to those defined herein. Internships do not count toward the required experience.
