Job description

Do you want to prove, hands‑on, why the world's most distributed network outperforms, and show your work?

Are you the engineer who would rather demonstrate a claim than assert it?

Join our innovative product marketing team

As a Senior Technical Marketing Engineer for Distributed Networking and Content Delivery, you will be the technical proof engine behind Akamai's delivery and performance story. You will build, benchmark, and demonstrate on the platform itself, then turn what you learn into content that earns the trust of engineers, architects, and technical decision makers.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will work hands‑on across Akamai’s delivery and performance portfolio, built on more than 4,300 edge points of presence in roughly 130 countries and over 700 cities, with approximately 1,200 network partners. You will partner with engineering, product management, and product marketing. If you want your technical work to shape how the market understands a global platform, this is the role for you.

As a Senior Technical Marketing Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing Akamai delivery and performance products hands‑on, building and maintaining live configurations and demo environments that show real capabilities on real traffic, not slideware
  • Designing and running reproducible benchmarking with documented, defensible methodology, validated against independent third‑party measurement, to substantiate Akamai's performance advantages with evidence
  • Authoring reference architectures and demos that make Akamai's technical differentiation concrete for customers, field teams, and events
  • Owning the technical answer to what makes Akamai's distributed network and content delivery platform genuinely differentiated, and keeping that answer current as the platform evolves
  • Working directly with engineering to build working knowledge of network optimization, carrier and telco peering, route optimization, post quantum cryptography, developer experience, and performance
  • Producing a consistent cadence of technical thought leadership- deep‑dive blogs, benchmark reports, conference talks, and demos- timed to global and industry events so Akamai shows up with proof when the market is paying attention
  • Partnering with product marketing to ground positioning, messaging, and competitive content in technical reality

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 6 years of relevant experience in technical marketing, solutions or sales engineering, or network engineering in CDN, content delivery, networking, edge or adjacent infrastructure, and a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or its equivalent.
  • Be genuinely hands‑on with the delivery stack: HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, QUIC, TLS, DNS, caching, routing and peering fundamentals, and the tooling to measure them, with working scripting or automation skills
  • Have designed and run performance benchmarks with a methodology you can defend publicly, and know the difference between a result and a cherry‑pick
  • Have built demos and reference architectures that technical audiences used and trusted
  • Be comfortable engaging network engineers or peering, route optimization, and post‑quantum cryptography, and equally comfortable presenting the implications to a non‑technical audience
  • Possess excellent technical writing and public speaking skills, with published work or talks you are proud to share
