Description
Position Summary:Bartenders play an essential role in delivering the superior guest service that is central to the mission of Eddie Merlot's. Based on extensive knowledge of beverage and menu options, Bartenders prepare and serve beverages for the lounge and the dining room in accordance with established recipes and presentation guidelines. In addition, Bartenders total and present checks, maintain their station in a clean and orderly manner, and follow all sanitation, food handling, and liquor regulations. Bartenders partner with Servers, Bussers, and other team members to ensure that each and every guest receives outstanding service and hospitality.
Responsibilities
  • Complete and pass required training modules - both initial and ongoing - for Bartenders and Servers.
  • Know your work schedule for the week, arrive at work on time, and meet standards for uniform and professional appearance.
  • Know and understand beverage and menu options. Follow established recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Communicate with Manager and Hosts to understand reservations, guest flow, large parties, or special event needs.
  • Ensure the bar is clean and well-stocked. Ensure the Lounge is clean and correctly set up for guests. Complete opening duties checklist.
  • Greet guests as they arrive in the bar and take beverage orders. Prepare and serve drinks, ensuring that lounge guests receive outstanding service.
  • Guide guests through the menu and ordering process. Answer questions. Follow menu merchandising procedures by listening, explaining specials, suggesting items, and up-selling.
  • Follow standard procedures for accurately taking and inputting food orders. Serve appetizers and menu items in accordance with procedures.
  • Follow up with Guests to ensure satisfaction with beverages and food.
  • Know and follow established drink recipes and presentation specifications. Responsible for accurate pouring and portion control.
  • Mix drinks for Dining Room guests; place on service bar area.
  • Follow established procedures for check presentation, payment, and tip-reporting.
  • As they leave, thank Guests for dining with us and invite them to return.
  • Clean, stock, and maintain the bar throughout the shift. Perform side duties, closing duties, and other duties as assigned by the Manager(s).
  • Take phone calls from guest for "To Go" orders
  • Assist with Prime Society service and encourage membership.
  • Communicate information regarding Guest requests or complaints, out-of-stock items, and ideas for improvement to Managers.
  • May be scheduled to work meetings, banquets, and special events.
  • Maintain a good team-work environment by willingly assisting other team members with their station duties and side work when there is a need and/or when available.
  • Follow Eddie Merlot's policies, procedures, standards, and performance expectations, as well as applicable laws and regulations related to liquor, food handling, sanitation, and safety at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements
? Two or more years' experience as a Bartender, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.
? Must be at least 21 years of age.
? High school diploma or GED preferred.
? Must be able to read and communicate in English clearly and effectively.
? Clean and professional appearance.
? Must have a state license to serve alcohol and understand state/local liquor regulations.
? Extensive knowledge of alcoholic beverages and mixed drinks.
? Manual dexterity and the ability to multi-task.
? Must have professional communication and social skills appropriate for guests.
? Must be self motivated and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
? Strong team-work orientation, well organized, able to take direction from others.
? Basic math and computer skills required.
? Able to work a flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Lunch-time serving hours may be required for certain seasons, holidays, or special events. Work days and hours vary in accordance with business need.
