Description
(HCL) is seeking teens ages 16-18 to join our Best Buy Teen Tech Center - Teen Tech Squad to help facilitate creative learning experiences in digital media with teens (ages 12-19) at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center in the Minneapolis Central Library. Teen Tech Squad members will focus on supporting peer learning using technology for creative expression and exploration in the arts and sciences.
The Best Buy Teen Tech Center is a creative and safe out-of-school-time learning environment where young people work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop new skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. It is youth centered, interest-driven and project based, emphasizing learning more than teaching. Teens are encouraged to learn by tinkering, playing and designing with technology.

Location and hours:
These positions are located at the downtown Minneapolis Central Library at 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55401. Teen Tech Squad members work approximately 8 hours per week during evening and some weekend hours. Work hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Interns will also work the second Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. to attend training. These internships are intended to start August 2026, are year-round, and last up to two years or until the intern turns 20 years old.

In these positions, you will:
  • Facilitate creative learning experiences focused on technology for teens.
  • Guide participants through hands-on and project-based activities.
  • Promote creative expression by cultivating a safe and open environment for participants to create and share.
  • Work with other Best Buy Teen Tech Center staff to develop, lead, demonstrate, trouble-shoot, and instruct others in the creation of multimedia projects and learning activities.
  • Learn how to use music, video production, photo-editing, and 3D printing software such as LogicPro, Adobe Premier, Blender, Photoshop, and Tinkercad.
  • Learn and use techniques for facilitating technology workshops and creative expression in a collaborative setting.
Need to be:
  • Enrolled in high school for the 2026-2027 academic school year and be between the ages of 16-18 by July 2026.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to access reliable and consistent transportation to Minneapolis Central Library.
  • Able to work from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays and attend training on the second Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. -3 p.m.
