Job description

Bergmeyer is a nationally recognized interdisciplinary design collaborative that is committed to creating the future of places for all. As a certified B Corporation, we are driven by the conviction that design can create meaningful impact for our clients, the communities we serve, and the planet.

The Director of Market Growth will serve as a strategic resource and thought partner to Bergmeyer’s Market Leaders, focused on supporting client relationship development and business growth across Bergmeyer's practice areas with the conviction that where we go, and how we get there, matters as much as how far. The Director of Market Growth serves as the central point of continuity for business development activity across the Design Collaborative, ensuring that pursuit efforts, at every level and in every market, are visible, connected, and moving in the same direction. This role reflects Bergmeyer's commitment to intentional, values-driven growth and supports the firm’s market presence in a way that ensures that we are accountable to the people we work with and for, the environments we shape, and the financial health that sustains the practice.

We seek a strategic thinker and connector who is able to shape the firm’s trajectory across markets, relationships, and pursuits in ways that deepen Bergmeyer’s reputation and impact while ensuring the practice thrives.

This position will be based out of Bergmeyer’s Boston or Los Angeles office.

n  15+ years of experience within an AEC environment or in an adjacent creative professional services category

n  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM management

n  Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, Miro and Open Asset a plus

Core responsibilities:

Market Strategy & Growth

n  In Partnership with Market Leaders and executive leadership, develop and execute a multi-market growth strategy aligned with Bergmeyer's strategic plan and annual business objectives.

n  Identify emerging markets, sectors, service offerings, and client opportunities that strengthen Bergmeyer's competitive position and long-term resilience.

n  Establish, develop, and track annual market advancement goals, budgets, and performance metrics.

n  Lead and manage the firm's Go/No-Go decision process, convening key stakeholders, gathering critical business and pursuit intelligence, facilitating informed decision-making, and overseeing follow-through actions to influence resource allocation and pursuit strategy.

n  Guide strategic pursuit planning for priority opportunities, ensuring alignment with firm capabilities, market objectives, staffing considerations, and financial goals.

Client Development & Relationship Management

n  Serve as a strategic advisor to Market Leaders in cultivating, expanding, and strengthening key client relationships across Bergmeyer's practice areas.

n  Collaborate on account planning, client engagement strategies, and cross-market collaboration to deepen existing relationships and generate new opportunities.

n  Foster a culture of shared ownership for business development activities across the Design Collaborative.

Strategic Partnerships & Market Intelligence

n  Support the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of strategic partnerships and industry relationships that expand Bergmeyer's reach and strengthen market positioning.

n  Lead the evaluation of conferences, industry organizations, speaking opportunities, and external engagement activities to maximize visibility, relationship-building, and return on investment.

n  Monitor market conditions, competitive trends, and client needs to inform growth strategies and proactive decision-making.

n  Experience coordinating across multiple regions/offices.

Insights & Impact

n  Oversee and continuously improve the firm's CRM platform, ensuring data quality, adoption, and meaningful reporting.

n  Track and report on pipeline health, pursuit outcomes, market performance, and business development effectiveness.

n  Develop and deliver education and training programs for best practices in marketing, client relationship management and business development to ensure consistency and depth in our practice.

n  Advance Bergmeyer's B Corp commitments by ensuring growth strategies, client pursuits, and partnership decisions reflect both business performance and positive social and environmental impact.
