Job description

Slitter Operator – 2nd Shift

Bema, Incorporated, a recognized leader in the flexible packaging industry, is seeking to hire a Slitter Operator to join our growing team on 2nd Shift. We are looking for a motivated professional with experience operating Deacro slitters and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor Deacro slitting equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
  • Read and interpret work orders, job specifications, and production instructions accurately.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure products meet customer and company standards.
  • Meet or exceed production goals related to run rates, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to maximize uptime and productivity.
  • Utilize basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and production documentation.
  • Accurately complete production records and required paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Consistently meet and exceed established quality and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of slitting machine operating experience required; experience on Deacro slitters strongly preferred. but willing to train.
  • Manufacturing experience in flexible packaging or converting operations preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently bend, squat, reach, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adhering to safety standards.

  • Support and maintain compliance with all applicable company requirements, including American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards.
