Starting Compensation:

18.00 - 20.50 USD Per Hour

Working Location:

Indio, CA

Working Hours/Shift:

Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM (30 hours per week)

What you bring to SBHG:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree, an Associate of Arts degree (in vocational/child counseling, development, psychology, social services, or a related behavioral science), or a High School Diploma combined with equivalent experience.

  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in a mental health or related setting. Specialized experience in vocational rehabilitation, employment placement, job coaching, or job counseling may be substituted.

  • Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications (First Aid may be obtained within 30 days of hire).

  • Licensure: A valid California Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.

How you will make a difference:

The Vocational Service Specialist serves as part of a multidisciplinary team and offers assessment, education, and support to clients about competitive work opportunities, assists in direct job placement, and provides long-term job coaching. He or she advocates for clients as necessary, including communicating with employers and coordinating care with other service providers to improve client job retention. Incumbent also conducts liaison in the community, collaborating with potential employers, linking with other employment service providers in the region to further an integrated system of care, and serves on committees and interagency teams to promote employment opportunities for individuals with mental illness, with most of the services being provided in the community.

Division/Program Overview:

Programs: Oasis Vocational Center provides vocational rehabilitation services to prepare and keep people employed.

Population Served: Working in conjunction with mental health service providers and the Department of Rehabilitation to assist clients in reaching their employment and career goals

Skills & Transition: Job coaching and training opportunities, Job development with employers, identifying job opportunities and job placement based on client interest
