Job Description — Behavioral Health Technician

Department: Behavioral Health

Direct Report to: Behavioral Health Technician Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the prmary conduit between client, clinical, and medical staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan.

SCOPE:

Under the immediate supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager, the BHT is responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical personcentered treatment plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Highschool diploma or equivalent is preferred.

An ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and utilize effective communication skills, including both telephone and in-person.

Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients.

Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, provide client-driven customer service, and exercise time management skills.

Scheduling flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotations are REQUIRED. Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures clients attend groups and participate in treatment program

Monitors and assists client activities throughout the shift; group time, free time, meals Checks client rooms twice per shift for prohibited items and safe environment

Maintains the client personal belongings inventory in Azzly

Monitors compliance with treatment center rules


Assists clients with telephone use and computer time per facility policy

Accompanies clients during smoke break at all times

Assists nursing staff during medication pass times

Adheres to HIPAA regulations including release of client information

Documents shift notes, safety rounds, and crisis notes in electronic medical record

Assists client with packing belongings and other steps to discharge

Reports safety hazards to supervisor or Executive Director

Performs appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shift

Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately

Has a working knowledge of drug/alcohol addiction and recovery Documents client non-compliance

Attends all staff meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor

Works continuously to maintain the cleanliness and functional order of the Milieu

Performs client admission process including drug and alcohol screens and contraband searches

As this is not an all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned as required by Patient and Facility needs.
