Job description

Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Behavioral Health team. This role will be part-time day shift 7:00 am - 7:00 pm with a rotating weekend. 

With the demand for behavioral health services continuing to grow, IMVH extended our 30-bed behavioral health unit to 50 beds in mid 2023.

The new 20-bed unit is designed with the specific needs of this specialized population in mind. Additionally, the current behavioral health unit was also upgraded and modernized.

IMVH behavioral health team received the 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience from Press Ganey. This accolade recognizes organizations ranked in the 95th percentile amongst other healthcare facilities across the nation.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will communicate effectively with patients, families, team members and medical providers. To help achieve our mission, you will create a collaborative team working environment while displaying respect for and an understanding of various clinical disciplines.  Using a focused and integrated approach toward improving desired patient outcomes and patient experience of care delivery is of vital importance.  Your participation in learning new knowledge, developing new skills and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery settings while utilizing and applying new knowledge is essential. Demonstrating s willingness to learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats is required. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
  • Education: BSN or ADN - If ADN then complete BSN within 5 years of start date 
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
  • RN licensed, and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. Proficient computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inpatient Psychiatric experience preferred
