Signet Health, a national behavioral health management company, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to support the inpatient adult behavioral health unit at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse plays a vital role in promoting and restoring patients’ physical and mental health through the nursing process, interdisciplinary collaboration, therapeutic interventions, and compassionate patient care. The RN provides both physical and psychological support to patients and families while helping maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.

Generous PTO and benefits; salary range $40 - $50/hr, depending on experience.

Available Shifts

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • Full-time, Day Shift – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every other weekend (36 hours per week)
  • Full-time, Night Shift – 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend (36 hours per week)
  • PRN/Per Diem – Day or night shift availability

Responsibilities & Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
  • Accurately document treatments, medications, patient responses, and all aspects of patient care in the medical record.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to psychiatric emergencies and behavioral health crisis situations.
  • Conduct patient assessments, screenings, evaluations, and ongoing monitoring of patient conditions and behaviors.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
  • Follow physician orders and individualized treatment plans in accordance with established standards of care.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary care team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Foster a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment for patients and staff.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing required.
  • One (1) year of Adult Psychiatric and/or Chemical Dependency nursing experience preferred.
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and written documentation skills required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems required; Cerner MedConnect experience preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

Salary

$40.00 – $45.00 per hour
