QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Holds a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College in Social Work, Psychology, or related field of study
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or Behavior Intervention Specialist (LBS-II) preferred
  • Meets all licensure requirements including teaching or specialist area endorsement in the state of Illinois
  • Effective communication/problem-solving ability
  • Practices continuous professional improvement
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize a variety of data sources and problem-solving structures in order to ensure the academic and social-emotional success of all students. Makes data-driven decisions using formative and summative assessments

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide clinical consultation, coaching, modeling, and professional development to staff in areas such as classroom management, positive reinforcement, de-escalation, data collection, replacement-skill instruction, and implementation of behavior-support plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, paraeducators, and multidisciplinary teams to establish and consistently implement classroom-wide and individualized behavior supports/strategies, expectations, routines, and reinforcement systems.
  • Partner with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop, monitor, and revise individualized behavior-support strategies based on behavioral data and student response.
  • Conduct observations and collect, analyze, and clearly present behavioral data to identify patterns, contributing factors, and possible functions of behavior; evaluate student progress and intervention effectiveness; and inform recommendations.
  • Develop practical behavior-support materials, including visual supports, reinforcement systems, data sheets, implementation guides, crisis-prevention supports, and staff fidelity checklists.
  • Support IEP teams by contributing behavioral data and recommendations; modeling and collaborating in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs); and assisting with the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), goals, accommodations, and staff supports, as appropriate.
  • Implement approved student safety procedures
  • Provide timely and effective crisis intervention using prevention, de-escalation, co-regulation, restorative, and trauma-responsive practices.
  • Provide consultation and support to parents and families, as assigned.
  • Provide in-service professional development to staff, as requested
  • Serve as liaison to community agencies, e.g., mental health, probation, DCFS, etc., as appropriate
  • Maintain good relationships with staff, students, parents, district staff and community agencies' staff
  • Practice professional development through attending area conferences, participation in professional organizations, and keeping abreast of issues and changes in the field of mental health and special education
  • Participate in training specific to placement setting, i.e., physical management
  • Ensure confidentiality
  • Follow all federal and state laws, district policies, IEP requirements, and professional ethical standards
  • Maintain appropriate attendance/punctuality
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Employment determined by school calendar.
  • Salary and benefits to be established in the Negotiated Agreement with the Board of Education. Starting salary $53,990

EVALUATION:
The School Principal and/or immediate administrative supervisor will serve as the evaluator with the evaluation incorporating the guidelines established in the Evaluation Plan for Licensed Staff.
