Job description

This position involves providing direct in-home intervention for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families. This employee will be a member of a team, which will have a maximum caseload of four to six families for up to twelve weeks for each family. The team will provide ten to twenty hours of weekly direct services to each family. The primary mission of the intervention is to reduce a crisis, institute a therapeutic process and prevent out of home placement of the child. A child isdefined as anyone within the age range of five to seventeen.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Responsible for assessing and implementing treatment programs for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families.
  • Responsible for providing direct in-home therapy to four to six families for a twelve-week period. This includes individual and family therapy.
  • Responsible for documenting the clinical charts to include intakes and all therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate in-home therapy sessions and implement the treatment program without direct supervision.
  • Must work closely with Department of Human Resources, Family Court and other agencies in the selection and treatment provided to children and their families during the in-home intervention.
  • Provide transportation to children and families when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties that are assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families.
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their use and their side effects.
  • Ability to perform individual and family therapy to include behavior modification, RET, parental education and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to provide leadership to the in-home counselor and assist in his/her clinical skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other professionals and other agencies.
  • Ability to organize and manage one's own activities with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of children and their families.
  • Participate on a rotating 24-hour on-call roster.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology and at least one year of applicable experience.
  • Must have ALC, LPC, LGSW, or LCSW (see note below)
  • Some clinical experience preferred.
  • Degree and experience must meet requirements for Approved Medicaid Provider status.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.
  • Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.
  • Must hold and maintain a current Red Cross First Aid, CPI and CPR certificate.

Therapist Level Hourly pay rate:
Therapist I- Unlicensed Therapist- $16.78 - $25.53/hour
Therapist II- Provisionally Licensed (ALC, LMSW, etc.)- $17.20 - $26.17/hour
Therapist III- Fully Licensed (LPC, LCSW, etc.)- $19.23 - $29.26/hour
