Position summary

Interactive Youth Transport provides clinically guided transport and crisis intervention for adolescents and young adults entering treatment programs and therapeutic schools. Each case is reviewed by a master's-level clinician prior to execution and staffed by personnel trained in crisis response, de-escalation, and therapeutic engagement.

The Interventional Transport Specialist is the field-operations role responsible for executing the transport plan, managing the client and family in person, and serving as the point of contact for the clinical oversight team and the receiving program from initial contact through admission.

Responsibilities

• Conducts transports of adolescents and young adults to treatment programs and therapeutic schools nationwide, including cross-country and international cases
• Executes the case plan developed under clinical review in accordance with IYT's Transport Model, which combines licensed therapist oversight, trauma-informed structure, and relational engagement
• Applies de-escalation techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and stages-of-change principles during transport to support client stabilization and readiness for intake
• Manages high-acuity and complex behavioral presentations with consistency and adherence to protocol
• Supports the family before, during, and after transport, including in-person planning and intervention support as assigned
• Provides regular status updates to the family and the clinical oversight team through IYT's Compass real-time tracking and communication platform
• Completes a structured handoff to the receiving program's admissions staff, including relevant clinical and behavioral observations from the transport
• Completes all case documentation in accordance with IYT standards
• Availability for short noticed jobs that can be anywhere from 4-72 hours with the average transport falling somewhere in the middle.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the FBI Approved background check
• The ability to rent a car and carry the expense through the completion of the job
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to travel domestically and sometimes internationally on short notice; valid passport preferred for international assignments
• Physical capacity to travel for extended periods and to respond appropriately in a crisis situation
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use recovery, adolescent care, youth work, peer support, or a related field
• Clear and professional communication, confident approaching tense situations with calm and rational approach.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, clinicians, and program staff with a high degree of detail and discretion.
• Completion and annual renewal of IYT clinical and safety certifications

Preferred

• Peer support, recovery coaching, therapeutic life coaching, or intervention credentials
• Prior experience in therapeutic transport, residential treatment, or crisis response
• Experience with severe mental health diagnoses, especially in the case of youth under 18
• Adaptability to different personality types and professional candor in stressful situations

Training and supervision

Team members are trained in IYT clinical and safety protocols as well as different approaches to behavioral intervention. Including CBT, De-Escalation, Motivational Interviewing Narcan Certification as well as other methodologies. All transports are conducted in 2 person gender specific teams with initial jobs mached with a senior team member. Case supervision and consultation are provided by licensed clinical leadership.
