Mental Health Technician

Locations: Everwell Port St. Lucie Hospital, Inc

Position Summary

We are seeking compassionate Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to support patients in our behavioral health programs. As part of the treatment team, the MHT provides direct patient care, ensures patient safety, assists with daily living activities, and supports therapeutic programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient safety and observe patient behaviors

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care

  • Support therapeutic and recreational activities

  • Utilize verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques

  • Monitor vital signs and document patient information accurately

  • Escort patients throughout the facility as needed

  • Promote a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment

  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff

  • Participate in treatment team meetings and patient education activities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Additional behavioral health or psychology coursework preferred

  • Current Florida Driver’s License required

  • Current CPR Certification required

  • Previous psychiatric, healthcare, or nursing home experience preferred

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills
