Greenwich Public Schools seeks teachers for the Before-School / After-School Math and Reading Support Program anticipated to take place at Parkway Elementary School from March 16 - April 24, 2026, from 7:45-8:30 a.m and/or 3:50-4:35 p.m. two-three days per week. (Particular day of the week and timeframe will be determined by the administration based on consultation with the selected teachers.) Work will be compensated based on the individual's hourly per diem rate.
This program will provide extended learning opportunities in mathematics and English language arts to small groups of selected students who would benefit from additional support to navigate the Smarter Balanced Assessment and cement their grade-level skills.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Use data and district trends to inform instruction
  • Promote a safe and positive classroom environment where all students feel welcomed
  • Foster an organized and structured classroom environment that allows for both small-group and individualized instruction
  • Monitor and collect data to evaluate the efficacy of the program and demonstrate student growth
  • Provide appropriate, meaningful, and timely feedback to improve student achievement
  • Incorporate technology and digital tools appropriately into instruction
  • Create and implement purposeful and targeted small-group and individual lesson plans

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to create an inviting atmosphere and educational program that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
  • Knowledge of all GPS elementary curriculum including Connecticut Core Standards for Math and English Language Arts
  • Knowledge of the content of the Smarter Balanced Assessments, and familiarity with the toools needed to navigate the Assessment
  • Ability to use a learning management system, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans to personalize the learning experience for all students
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, while affording opportunity for creative activity
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching techniques through the use of appropriate instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners
  • Knowledge of how to use technology to enhance instruction

Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to Greenwich Public Schools staff with elementary school teacher certification
