Job Description

The Daily Beast is seeking talented, motivated, and curious editorial interns with interests in beauty and wellness to join our award-winning newsroom on-site in New York, where they will write for The Looker. Open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, and post-grads, this internship is a unique opportunity for emerging journalists to gain hands-on experience writing and reporting on the fast-evolving landscapes of aesthetics, style, and culture—from celebrity beauty news and product reviews to plastic surgery explainers and personal essays.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) for a three-month period, and may include some evening or weekend shifts.

Ideal candidates will have a deep interest in health and wellness journalism, an eye for beauty and lifestyle trends, and a desire to tell smart, creative, and engaging stories. The best applicants will be full of ideas, write cleanly, and be comfortable juggling news curation, evergreen features, and commerce-adjacent content.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated interest in health, wellness, beauty, or lifestyle writing. Prior experience writing or interning for a publication, blog, or newsletter is preferred.

  • A strong news sense and deep curiosity about topics that impact how people live, feel, and look.

  • Excellent writing and reporting skills, with the ability to balance voice and authority.

  • An understanding of the role of visuals and video in health, wellness, and beauty storytelling.

  • Familiarity with digital publishing and content management systems is a plus.

  • Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not required.
