Job description

Beautician

POSITION: Full or Part-Time Beautician. - Must be friendly and enjoy working with rehabilitation residents and seniors.

HOURS: 10 – 15 hours. There is also no booth charge either.

Purpose of Position provides hair cutting, hair styling and cosmetology and related services to residents of our skilled nursing center.

Examples of Typical Tasks:

  • Cuts and shapes hair of residents by trimming and tapering using clippers, scissors, razors and other hand or mechanical electrical apparatus or appliance.

  • Styles, hair coloring, sets, combs out and curls hair of residents.

  • Shampoos and rinses hair and scalp.

  • Permanently waves hair by application of lotions, waving solution or other preparations, winds hair around rollers or pin curls and finger waves hair by hand or mechanical electrical apparatus or appliances.

  • May need to provide wig care service for residents such as setting, styling, washing, and cleaning.

  • Positions patients for beauty treatments, wheels non-ambulatory patients in and out of beauty shop.

  • Cleans chairs, combs, scissors, and cabinets. Sterilizes tools and equipment and maintains sanitary conditions of beauty shop.

  • Obtains, receives, and stores records and safeguards equipment, materials and supplies and keeps records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of methods used in maintaining proper grooming of hair, knowledge of sanitary requirements in practice of hairdressing and cosmetology

  • Knowledge of beauty culture equipment and supplies and skill in applying beauty culture techniques; and

  • Ability to get along well with patients and ability to maintain personal cleanliness and neatness; and

  • Possession of a valid New York State license to practice hairdressing and cosmetology, or the equivalent, required
