Audio SQA Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States

We are the Beats Engineering team seeking an experienced Audio QA Engineer to lead mandatory manual and automated evaluation and validation activities during the development of Beats audio products. The role combines a strong background in audio DSP with acoustic measurement expertise, mandating you to drive the development of automated audio quality tests, manage test plans, and triage defects.

Responsibilities
  • Drive and lead Beats Audio QA activities, including manual and automated evaluation and validation.
  • Use sophisticated audio measurement equipment to validate audio performance of systems.
  • Develop automated audio quality tests and support device acquisition.
  • Create test plans, strategies, and schedules; execute and delegate test runs.
  • File highโ€‘quality bug reports, facilitate debugging, and triage defects.
  • Extract logs and data from systems under test using internal tools.
  • Collaborate with crossโ€‘functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2โ€‘3 years of professional engineering experience, preferably in proโ€‘audio, hearing aid, or related field.
  • Strong background in audio signal processing and analysis (filtering, frequency response, VAD, noise reduction).
  • Proficiency with audio measurement tools (signal generators, analyzers, artificial headโ€‘andโ€‘torso setups).
  • Excellent understanding of systems engineering principles (requirements, specifications, verification).
  • Strong understanding of QA responsibilities and best practices.
  • Proficient in an OOP programming language such as Python.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in commandโ€‘line tools such as Bash.
  • Familiarity with Linuxโ€‘based operating systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Pay & Benefits

Base pay range: $112,300 โ€“ $168,500 (dependent on skills, experience, and location). The total compensation package may include discretionary bonuses, commission payments, and relocation assistance.
