Job description

Perks and Benefits
  • 100% Paid Healthcare Premiums
  • 10% 401k in every paycheck
  • 100% Fully Vested!

NOTE - Our positions require a Top Secret clearance, as well as the favorable completion of a polygraph. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor an employment Visa.
What You'll Be Doing (We don't love the bullet points, but we love the work!)
GHOSTGEM seeks a valiant Software Engineer, a noble artisan of logic and caffeine, to breathe life into its hallowed suite of applications. You shall develop, sustain, and troubleshoot software with the grace of a thousand git commits and the patience of someone who has read a 400-line stack trace and lived to tell the tale.
Your days shall be filled with implementation, testing, and integration, weaving GHOSTGEM's code into a grand tapestry of COTS and FOSS products, packages, and libraries, like a master chef who doesn't care whether the ingredients are store-bought or foraged from the open-source wilderness, so long as the dish compiles.
Position Required Skills (These are not mere suggestions. These are the commandments.)
  • Thou shalt know the Linux CLI - for the terminal is thy temple, and ls -la is thy morning prayer.
  • Thou shalt script in Bash and Python - bending the machine to thy will with elegant one-liners and the occasional unholy regex.
  • Thou shalt write Java - recently, not from memory of a 2009 textbook. Recent experience. We will ask.
  • Thou shalt wield the Spring Framework - Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Integration shall flow from thy fingertips like a river of beautifully annotated beans.
  • Thou shalt commune with MongoDB - for life is too short for rigid schemas, and NoSQL is the art of making it up as you go, professionally.
  • Thou shalt containerize - Docker and containerd are thy vessels; thou shalt package thine applications within them as one packs a suitcase for a deployment that will not fail in production. Probably.
  • Thou shalt orchestrate with Kubernetes - conducting thy containers like a maestro leading an orchestra of microservices, each pod playing its part in the grand symphony of uptime.
  • Thou shalt be familiar with the Messaging Arts - RabbitMQ and Kafka, the town criers of distributed systems, delivering messages to those who may or may not be listening.
  • Thou shalt know CI/CD - Bamboo and GitLab CI are thy conveyor belts of destiny, automating the pipeline so that no human hand need suffer the indignity of a manual deployment ever again.
  • Thou shalt embrace Infrastructure as Code - Ansible is thy magic wand; wave it and servers shall configure themselves, weeping tears of YAML in gratitude.
  • Thou shalt use Git - and thou shalt write meaningful commit messages. "fix stuff" is not a commit message. It is a cry for help.
Desired Skills (Bestow These Gifts Upon Us and We Shall Rejoice)
  • Not required, but if you have these, we will absolutely put your resume on top of the pile.
  • The Atlassian Arts - Jira, where dreams become tickets, and Confluence, where documentation goes to be written and never read again.
  • Helm Chart Mastery - the ability to craft Helm Charts and deploy containerized services into Kubernetes with the precision of a cartographer mapping uncharted digital seas.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with java and a recreational interest in witty exchanges. ☕
