Brooklyn Beans is looking for part-time After-School Counselors for the 2026-2027 school year!


Brooklyn Beans, a non-profit organization located in Park Slope, offers after-school programming at PS 39 during the school year. Our philosophy is to provide meaningful and engaging activities for our students each and every day, striving to create an environment where students can come after school and feel at home.


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Brooklyn Beans is seeking After-School team members to join our team for the current school year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in education, someone looking to gain experience in the field and learn from a fun, creative, and supportive team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage and support children in play-based activities
  • Prep and clean up before and after activities
  • Work collaboratively with other team members
  • Engage in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.

HOURS:

  • Monday - Friday; 2:15 pm - 6 pm for the 2026-2027 school year
  • 10-month school year (plus an option for a summer program)

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess an Associates degree, be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program, or equivalent
  • Must have at least two years experience working with children
  • Must be able to work Monday - Friday from 2:15 pm to 6 pm
  • Must be willing to obtain school-related training, IdentoGo fingerprinting, and up-to-date medical upon employment.
  • Should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills; and be team-oriented, nurturing, patient, and reliable.
  • Should be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which may include lifting children and year-round outdoor activities.

**As per the Department of Health Regulations, a clearance check and medical will be required for employment.
