About the Role

The Business Development Specialist is an integral part of Latham's Business Development (BD) team and will be responsible for supporting their assigned market and working closely with the office Business Development team, while building strong relationships with the local BD Manager and collaborating to support the partners, counsel, and associates in the assigned office to establish a role as a markets trusted resource. This role will be located in either our New York or Chicago office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the local BD Manager to assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of Business Development and Marketing initiatives, and business plans
  • Planning and assisting with office event initiatives, cross-selling, and client-targeting initiatives as it relates to local markets
  • Working with various teams such as BD Core, New Business Team, Creative, Events & Sponsorships, Martech, Library & Research, Alumni, Brand & Communications, and the Financial Information Center in the delivery of information on client intelligence, research, pitch information, events, and lawyer materials
  • Assisting in monitoring office initiatives with key account clients in the market
  • Acting as the go-to resource for office BD needs and support
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Demonstrate well-developed, professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Display excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Possess the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus

And have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in marketing, business development, office administration, or other related functions
