Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Applications Engineering, conducts all inside activities associated with applications (process sizing, documentation, costing) support, sales, and business development for our process equipment. Opportunity to progress further within the engineering (process or project) or sales team depending on the individual's motivation.
Experience with packaged process equipment is preferred, and a plus would be within Water & Wastewater treatment process equipment manufacturing. Performs a variety of tasks.
Reports to: Senior Manager of Applications Engineering
Essential Functions:
  • Work with sales team within company sales process and software to progress leads, opportunities, and projects to completion.
    • Gather data, clarify scope and work to an understood solution with customers, customer engineers or consultants.
    • Provide technical sales assistance on products to internal and external customers
  • Select, size, and detail company products to suit customer requirements/specifications for process.
    • Use company sizing tools for heat/mass balance, chemical demand and equilibriums to generate opportunity scope
    • Work with external vendors to generate scope and costing for selected equipment outside BCR engineering provision
    • Use company software for proposal creation and pricing.
    • Generate guiding documents to vendors and customers, such as data sheets, equipment layouts, tables, bills of material etc. to make an RFQ or RFP.
    • Use experience with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation components of process equipment to specify solutions.
  • Read, understand, comment upon customer supplied project specifications to suit company products, goals, and processes.
  • Take material cost information from completed projects along with current labor information and produce a takeoff for materials and labor.
  • Locate potential vendors and write RFQ for non-standard purchased components included in a project.
  • Coordinate project booking & hand over to engineering and customer delivery
  • Assist in creation of sales literature and collateral to aide in marketing initiatives.
  • Create and update applications templates.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information, inquiries, and application trends.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetings as needed.
  • Manage technical presentations at customer sites, trade shows, and meetings demonstrating how a product will meet customer needs.
  • Work with internal sales and external reps/sales to update sales database with accurate information.
  • Solves customer problems with professionalism.
  • Maintain the company culture.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • BS in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical or Process Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Process and Sales Engineering or similar role (5 preferred)
  • Proficient in developing custom Excel-based calculators, templates, dashboards, and dynamic/automated tools using advanced formulas, data validation, and macros/VBA where applicable.
  • Strong working knowledge of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), with the ability to interpret, update, and maintain engineering documentation.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, and heat exchanger design, operation, and performance optimization.
  • Create conceptual equipment layouts in AutoCAD based on existing drawings, process requirements, and project objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including, but not limited to, Sales, Operations, and Engineering.
  • Excellent organization, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical abilities, critical thinking skills, and tenacious follow up.
  • Good technical knowledge and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Scheduling, priority management and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable with negotiating.
  • Capable of operating equipment, specifically BCR demonstration equipment on a customer site (wastewater or industrial treatment plant environment).
  • Affable nature, outgoing and service oriented.
  • Travel up to 25%, reimbursed by the company.
  • Possess a valid driver's license

Working conditions:
  • Workdays are usually Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, minimum 40 hours per week. Flex Fridays allow for work from home.
  • Customer sites are municipal wastewater treatment plants or industrial sites and will require travel in company provided transportation to customer sites or expensed private transportation.
