Why this job matters:

Serve as an advocate for current and prospective members at retail locations. Clarify and resolve account related questions for all lines of business. Provide an excellent customer experience by ensuring that all transactions and inquiries are addressed accurately and in a timely fashion. Sell various types of health insurance products on behalf of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Adhere to all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines and company driven compliance programs.

What you will do:

  • Address and resolve customer questions pertaining to claims, plan eligibility and billing issues, premium payments and account reinstatements

  • Consultatively interpret and explain plan benefits and policies to members and providers

  • Close sales by following up on leads, building customer relationships and showcasing plan specific benefits.

  • Apply customer engagement philosophies and personality based resolution techniques to all sales and service interactions.

  • Develop leads, schedule appointments, identify customer needs, and market appropriate products and services.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining records and handling policy renewals.

What you need to succeed:

  • Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two to four years of experience in a customer service, insurance, retail or sales-driven role.

  • Intermediate command of MS Office Suite

  • Basic knowledge of retail, marketing, customer service or sales operations

  • Successful track record of meeting sales goals/quotas

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to think critically, make decisions and solve problems

  • Above average computer proficiency with capacity to quickly learn new skills and programs

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment

  • Skilled at researching data, identifying trends, and recommending appropriate actions

  • Ability to organize work efficiently to meet established time and quality standards

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
