The Jamestown Public School District is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Office Assistant.
This position is part of the District Administration Business Office team, working 40 hours a week, 12 months a year.
Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, state retirement, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
Starting hourly wage for this position is $17.69/hour to $18.28/hour, depending on experience.

SUMMARY:
The Office Assistant provides clerical and transactional support to the Business Office, including payroll support and accounts payable and receivable functions. This position supports the accuracy and efficiency of district financial operations by completing routine tasks, maintaining records, and assisting with documentation, reporting, and system maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma required; associate degree preferred
  • Prior office or bookkeeping experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and data entry skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment and requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment, including a computer and telephone, for extended periods of time. The position may require occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written communication. Regular attendance and the ability to meet deadlines are essential functions of this position.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll Support
  • Assists with preparation and processing of BCBS claims documentation
  • Enters and proofs activity timesheet batches
  • Enters and proofs substitute timesheets and substitute unit entries
  • Assists with correcting Frontline Absence import comments
  • Maintains payroll filing systems and reports
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support
  • Prepares and distributes monthly reports and supporting documentation
  • Assists with bank deposits
  • Scans and organizes financial records in K12 Docs
  • Assists with budget entry and routine financial data input
  • Prepares and distributes P-Card statements and supporting paperwork
  • Prepares gate money for local school events
Clerical & Administrative Support
  • Maintains Business Office files and documentation systems
  • Assists with data entry, recordkeeping, and report preparation
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the Payroll and Accounting Supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
