Description:

Summary: The Master Upholsterer serves as a technical resource for the team regarding best practices regarding upholstery, in addition to meeting their individual production goals.


Shift: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break


Pay: $25.00 - $29.00/hr plus bonus opportunity of up to 10%


Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Communicate any inventory or quality issues on the shop floor to inventory specialist and department supervisor.

· Inspect work areas to ensure safe operational performance and utilization.

· Train employees in proper procedures and work tasks.

· Inspect the work done in Cutting, Sewing, Foam Prep and Upholstery.

· Assist Engineering with all upholstered product development.

· Upholstery technical support

· Effectively communicate deadlines, and safety practices

· Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Expert level knowledge of furniture upholstery.

· Knowledge of critical principles required with upholstery and sewing.

· Ability to perform basic mat, read a ruler, etc...

· Ability to follow directions and work well in a team and as an individual contributor.

· Thorough understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

· Strong listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Detail-orientation and ability to multi-task.

· Interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective work relationships

· Ability to adhere to the company's attendance policy, including regular and punctual attendance.

- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred


Education/Experience:

· High school or equivalent combination of education and experience

· At least 5 years of real-world experience upholstering all types of furniture.

· Previous experience in a manufacturing environment


Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.

· Ability to lift 30 pounds unassisted. (Assisted lifting required for lifting over 30 pounds)
