WHO WE ARE

These programs provide third-party accountability and dispute resolution services that address existing and emerging industry issues, create fair competition for businesses, and a better experience for consumers. BBB National Programs continues to evolve its work and grow its impact by providing business guidance and fostering best practices in advertising, child-and-teen-directed marketing, data privacy, dispute resolution, automobile warranty, technology, and emerging areas.

ABOUT OUR NATIONAL PARTNERS

BBB National Programs National Partners influence the future of self-regulation in their industry, demonstrating to stakeholders their commitment to accountable, industry-led standards and dispute resolution programs that protect consumers and keep the playing field level for business. BBB National Programs National Partners are champions of industry self-regulation, data privacy, consumer protection, truth and accuracy in advertising, other emerging areas, and support our work as the leading voice for independent industry self-regulation.

YOUR IMPACT

As the VP, Business Development and National Partners you will be part of the leadership team at BBB National Programs and will play a key role in advancing our mission and strategic growth across our National Partners and Programs. You will strengthen the impact, profile, and reach of independent industry self-regulation by expanding our sphere of influence across new industries, sectors, and stakeholders. This is a sales leadership role โ€” defined by financial targets, relationship goals, and the resolve to meet and exceed both. You will own the full business development lifecycle: identifying opportunities, building the case, and closing. You bring a bias for action and growth, are energized by selling to sophisticated buyers (law firms, consulting firms, Fortune 500 companies), and know how to build and coach a team to do the same.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and implementation of business development strategies to grow National Partner base and develop a strategic partnership pipeline that advances the organizationโ€™s mission and growth goals;
  • Create and execute value proposition strategies and proposals to develop viable leads that can be converted to National Partners and/or Program participants; build new sales content and program offerings that enable entry into new sectors and industries
  • Build and nurture relationships with various key strategic industry stakeholders to raise the profile of the organization and generate revenue, with particular emphasis on multi-sector engagement including large corporations, law firms, consulting firms, C-suite and legal/privacy/compliance decision-makers
  • Develop and oversee National Partner and Program participant acquisition strategies, monitor opportunity funnel, measure performance, and perform acquisition projections
  • Oversee and implement the full acquisition cycle including market research, trends, analysis, and engaging prospects, while achieving annual acquisition, sponsorship, and retention goals
  • Develop and implement structured customer relationship management, acquisition, and retention processes across the organization
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and reinforce opportunities to engage with National Partners and Program participants, attract prospective National Partners, and identify cross-program/engagement opportunities
  • Build, develop, and mentor the business development team; shape a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, talent development, and bench strength
  • Coach internal leaders on how to leverage relationships and stakeholder meetings to advance sales opportunities; translate those engagements into pipeline

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Must have:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree
  • 10+ yearsโ€™ experience in business development and sales, with a demonstrated record of carrying and meeting financial targets
  • 5+ years leading a team in business development and sales with a track record of talent development and building bench strength
  • Extensive experience developing strategy with demonstrated follow-through that led to successful business growth
  • High level of negotiating and influencing skills to initiate and close; ability to reverse-engineer a path to the sale and accelerate the sales cycle through trust-building
  • Proven ability to generate leads and develop new relationships
  • Skilled at developing and deploying sales enablement content โ€” including one-pagers, slick sheets, pitch decks, and capability statements โ€” and knows how to put the right material in front of the right audience
  • Deep rooted confidence and gravitas
  • Strong creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to translate the needs of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills
  • Resourceful self-starter who knows which rooms to be in and how to get there
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Multi-sector experience with a demonstrated ability to sell to sophisticated buyers including attorneys, privacy and compliance professionals, and C-suite executives at large organizations

Let us know if you have:

  • Experience working in marketing or client development for a large or emerging market law firm or consulting firm
  • Experience selling to senior in-house counsel, law firm partners, CMOs, privacy officers, and the C-suite
  • Privacy compliance vendor sales experience
  • Fortune 500 or Big 4 firm experience
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), particularly in support of inorganic growth strategies
