Job description

Location: Clearwater, FL (Hybrid)

Status: Full Time, Exempt: Yes

Shift Hours: 8:00-5:00

The Manager BayCare Payroll leads the end-to-end payroll function for a large, multi-entity health system, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across hospitals, outpatient facilities, and affiliated entities. This role provides oversight for payroll operations, compliance, system governance, and cross-functional coordination with Finance, Team Resources, and IT in support of a complex, high-volume workforce.

The Manager BayCare Payroll responsibilities include:

1. Enterprise Payroll Operations

  • Oversee full-cycle payroll processing, including biweekly, off-cycle, and adjustment payrolls, across multiple facilities and cost centers.
  • Ensure accurate processing of clinical and non-clinical pay, including shift differentials, overtime, call pay, incentives, and varied pay structures.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with FLSA, IRS, FICA, FUTA, state and local wage laws, and healthcare-specific labor requirements.
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, audits, reporting, and internal controls to mitigate compliance risk.

3. Payroll Systems & Transformation

  • Provide functional leadership for payroll systems, including INFOR ERP and UKG timekeeping.
  • Partner with IT and HRIS on system implementations, upgrades, integrations, automation, and process improvements.

4. Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for Team Resources, Finance, Operations, leadership, vendors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.

5. Financial Integration

  • Partner with Finance and Team Resources to prepare payroll reports, monitor KPIs, and support audit-ready payroll processes.

6. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead the payroll team by managing workloads, deadlines, performance, staff development, and succession planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent
    Preferred: Associate’s degree in Accounting or Associate’s degree in Finance
  • Required Certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Required Experience: 8 years of Payroll experience, including 3 years in a management role
