Job description

SunVena is looking for a highly motivated candidate for an MPU Battery Technician role. The position will report to the Service Manager and will be an integral member of the team focused on assisting with diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive, and corrective maintenance services to SunVena's Main Panel Upgrade (MPU) and battery systems.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable traveling to customers' homes or businesses to repair equipment and machines. The MPU technician will install and test products and provide customers with instructions on proper use. To be successful as an MPU technician, you should have good technical and mechanical skills. You will need basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of MPU systems, battery inverters, battery storage units, and related equipment
  • Assist in the commissioning of the battery storage system and monitoring systems during project installation, when needed
  • Ensure that MPU and battery storage systems are set up correctly
  • Perform re-roofs, roof repairs, and drywall repairs as needed
  • Install hardware, MPU units, battery modules, inverters, and monitoring equipment
  • Assist with the commissioning of inverters and the inspection of battery storage components
  • Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules, and electrical equipment
  • Respond to corrective maintenance cases on battery inverters, MPU parts, and battery modules. This includes troubleshooting, testing, and repairing activities
  • Electrical wiring of MPU/battery system (AC and DC)
  • Perform voltage testing using appropriate PPE and procedures
  • Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health, and safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Basic understanding of Electrical Panels, including Subpanels (MBD derate, conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of Monitoring equipment (Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender, etc.)
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting an inverter that is reporting production loss
  • Basic knowledge of Battery Storage Equipment (Enphase, Tesla, SolarEdge, and/or SMA)
  • Some experience in Electrical troubleshooting (power outages, shorts, faults, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of MPU and battery backup systems (Enphase, Tesla, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of Standalone Metering equipment (CT for production and consumption)
  • Complete RMA's and log project documentation

Qualifications Requirements
  • Able to work safely with heights on ladders and in confined areas.
  • Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and able to work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which include bending, lifting heavy equipment (50lbs +), and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in various environments (example: hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.)
  • Must be willing and able to travel overnight throughout the state when necessary.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license
