Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:  

  • Manage equipment budget and cost tracking for project 
  • Coordinate with site Operations, Scheduling and Site Leadership on all equipment needs 
  • Manage daily allocation and deployment of heavy equipment, tools, and fleet assets  
  • Supervise mechanics, equipment coordinators, yard personnel, and support staff 
  • Coordinate equipment scheduling to meet project timelines and operational needs. 
  • Monitor equipment utilization rates and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce idle time. 
  • Oversee mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from site 
  • Maintain accurate fleet inventory records including ownership, location, hours, inspections, and maintenance history. 
  • Coordinate field repairs with internal mechanics and vendors to minimize downtime 
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment condition and operator practices.  
  • Support incident investigations involving equipment or fleet operations. 
  • Ensure timely completion of inspections, servicing, and repairs to minimize downtime 
  • Coordinate with the accounting department through Vista Viewpoint to approve outstanding rental invoices and resolve any payment issues. 
  • This role may be required to perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned or as necessary to meet the needs of the organization and Equipment Department 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

  • Knowledge of heavy construction equipment including: pile drivers, dozers, skid steers, forklifts, and excavators 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills 
  • Effective communicator with ability to write and speak clearly in a variety of settings 
  • Well-organized and able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment systems 
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail 
  • Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving 
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions

 EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED:  

  • 6-8 years’ experience in equipment management with an EPC Contractor 
  • Experience managing heavy equipment fleets in civil, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure  
  • Understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations related to equipment operations. 
  • Knowledge of “Vista Viewpoint” or similar ERP software is preferred. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams). 
  • Field experience in supervising personnel and task delegation. 
  • Ability to achieve project goals and timelines. 
  • Proven analytical, mathematical and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, equipment and inventory management. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
