Job description

Special Education BASS Program Liaison/IntermediateJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 03/17/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 052292 LOCATION: Admin Human Resources - 726 POSITION TITLE: Special Education BASS Program Liaison/Intermediate
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Implement and monitor the Behavior Alignment for Student Success (BASS) Program to provide behavioral support to students and campus personnel. Communicate with campus staff, District Special Education staff, and parents/guardians, information pertaining to student needs, including but not limited to, ARD paperwork, IEPs, BIPs and general progress.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Effectively manage student behavior of students assigned to the BASS program.
  2. Serve as a resource to the campus in identifying and implementing effective research-based behavior management strategies for students.
  3. Assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students.
  4. Implement all elements of the BASS phases to include foundation, structured, student monitoring, student reinforcement, and documentation.
  5. Attend staffing's and ARD meetings for all students served in the BASS program.
  6. Provide behavior instruction to students while in the BASS classroom for times of reset.
  7. Collaborate with general education staff to make arrangements for academic instruction to students who require instruction in the BASS classroom.
  8. Maintain portfolios for all students served through the BASS program.
  9. Keep administration informed of each student's progress and BASS level on a weekly basis.
  10. Attend BASS liaison training as scheduled by the Special Education Department.
  11. Assist in the development and implementation of academic and behavior IEPs.
  12. Provide on-going communication with parents of students utilizing BASS documentation forms.
  13. Utilize the BASS data program to chart and monitor student behavior and submit reports to District Behavior Specialists and campus Administrators.
  14. Maintain classroom logs as documentation of students served in BASS classrooms.
  15. Maintain monitoring sheets on all students served in the BASS classroom.
  16. Provide leadership and direction to BASS paraprofessionals.
  17. Maintain certification in the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  18. Maintain and organize CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and TBSI (Texas Behavior Support Initiative) certification records for all applicable campus Staff.
  19. Provided technical assistance in behavioral intervention strategies to campus personnel for students not served in the BASS program.
  20. Provide training to campus personnel on the implementation of all elements of the BASS program as needed.
  21. Maintain confidentiality.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.

ASSIGNMENTS TO VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION:
  1. Seamlessly integrate District-approved online learning platforms and required software into the planning, delivery, and support of virtual instruction.
  2. Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  3. Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  4. Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines including professional communication and responsiveness.
  5. Be flexible, responsive, and positive with students, parents, and staff.
  6. Effectively translate CISD Best Practices into the virtual instructional setting.
  7. Regularly attend and apply District-approved professional development in the most up-to-date practices associated with virtual instruction.
  8. Accurately and timely obtain and report required student data, including attendance, grades, etc.
  9. Dress professionally as you would if you were offering instruction to students in a traditional, in-person setting.
  10. Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.
  11. Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  12. Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.
  13. Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.
  14. Attend all required campus and District meetings.
EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for Special Education
  • Current certification in de-escalation and restraint techniques or completion of certification within 30 school days of employment

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively between the school and community
  • Effective communication and consultation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of behavior strategies
  • Knowledge of special education law

May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours.
