Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hatteras Off-Line Shops Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of off-line shop operations and the Outfitters assigned to those areas. This role ensures components are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, cost, and delivery objectives. The supervisor leverages Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Plans, directs, and controls activities of the off-line shops and area leads to meet overall departmental objectives – 25% Develops and implements consistent department procedures and evaluates process methods for improvement.
  • Communicates methods, policies, and procedures to off-line shop Outfitters and anticipates, investigates, and evaluates future process needs. – 15%
  • Interfaces with all plant management groups, including customer service, quality, materials, finance, EHS, and human resources to meet production, quality, and compliance requirements. – 15%
  • Evaluates the current workflow analysis and creates improvements based on current needs. – 15%
  • Maintains and reports production performance metrics using SQCD board; educate and direct 2nd level goal deployment for direct report supervisors; manage capital spending projects; evaluate new equipment and techniques. – 15%
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: 5 years of experience in manufacturing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
  • Experience using Lean Sigma to accomplish business goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively speak before groups of associates and other managers in the organization.
  • Experienced in the use of, and creating spreadsheets, databases, and charting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly walks, stands, and works on a computer. Occasionally sits and lifts up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
