Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach
Spectrum High School Elk River, MN

Spectrum High School is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach to join our dynamic coaching staff for the upcoming season. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with student-athletes and contributing to the development of the Boys' Basketball Program.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach in organizing and leading practices, developing and implementing training plans, and supporting student-athletes in their development. The coach will help create a positive and competitive team environment and will be responsible for assisting in both the athletic and academic growth of athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of daily practice plans and training sessions.
  • Help with event coaching, focusing on the individual needs of each athlete.
  • Lead warm-ups, drills, and conditioning sessions.
  • Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Help with meet preparation, including logistics, event management, and coaching during competitions.
  • Provide feedback and evaluations to athletes to improve performance.
  • Work closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure the program's success and growth.
  • Help monitor and track the progress and performance of athletes.
  • Assist with the development of student-athletes' academic and athletic goals.
  • Attend team meetings and communicate with athletes, parents, and school staff as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in the sport (preferred but not required).
  • A passion for developing athletes and promoting teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes.
  • Must maintain certification with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

Position Details:

  • Start Date: November 2026
  • Season Length: November 2026 - March 2027
  • Compensation: $3,300
  • Hours: Practice typically after school hours, with additional time required for meets and events.
