Athletics and Programs Internship
  • FALL SEMESTER: September 14 MidDecember, 2026
  • Paid Internship : $13.73/hour

    Detroit PAL is a non-profit organization that Helps Youth find their Greatness. Each year, the organization positively impacts the lives of 9,500 youth through athletic and enrichment programs. PAL also empowers the community by training over 1,000 volunteers and coaches, creating safe places for kids to play, and running quality programs that keep young people healthy and active. Detroit PAL's home office is located at the Old Tiger Stadium in Michigan near Trumbull, which is a hub of programming excellence for youth in and around Detroit.

    Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Support Detroit PAL community efforts
  • Work directly with Program and Administration Coordinators to manage the needs and responsibilities of program management
  • Learn and assist with the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of Detroit PAL athletic and youth enrichment programs
  • Work directly with senior nonprofit leadership
  • Work across the organization on multidepartmental projects
  • The best Internship experience occurs when the intern becomes fully engaged in PAL operations! Accordingly, we will provide opportunities for engagement through specific projects/responsibilities, which will be provided below:

    Specific Projects/Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and execution of athletic and youth enrichment offerings, including Tiny Tennis, Little Hoopers, Little Lions, Critical Conversations, Soccer, Volleyball, Football, and Basketball
  • Support athletic & event operations by aiding with event setup and supervision
  • Act as a mentor for youth by acting as a positive coach and role model

  • Understand and lead both kids and volunteers through different programs and drills in a fun, engaging way
  • Assist in the evaluation of programs by collecting postprogram surveys at various events
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Availability for evenings and weekends!
