Summary
The Graphic Design Intern will assist senior creative staff on a range of client-facing and marketing projects to further develop their existing skills in design execution, collaboration, project support, and researching trends. The intern will gain experience in contributing to the creative direction of communication programs and campaigns. The Graphic Design Intern will be expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of typography, layout, animation, and art direction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist senior designers in creating visual designs from scratch for a variety of design materials, including print and digital assets like presentations, flyers, social media graphics, and website elements
Work closely with the associate creative director and marketing manager to observe and participate in the development of creative concepts and strategies, contributing ideas and input during brainstorming and strategic planning sessions when appropriate
Assist in the production of design concepts, including preparing files for print and digital to support the team throughout the execution projects, while adhering to project deadlines
Conduct market research to stay updated on current design trends, best practices, and understand client needs
Create production art that’s ready for print with the help of senior designers
Assist in the creation, editing, and preparation of materials for client presentations
Communicate with senior creative team members to receive feedback on designs and utilize that feedback to continually improve and grow
Collaborate and communicate with sales team members and other internal departments when applicable
Demonstrate consistency and reliability in work produced
Utilize critical thinking, branding, and communication skills during strategy sessions to ensure thorough understanding of the project’s strategic scope and how to best execute design materials that meet those needs
Other duties may be assigned at any time
Education and/or Experience
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in a creative field, or a recent graduate
0-3 years experience in the creative industry
Adeptness with the leading design software packages including but not limited to: Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Slides
Other Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Motivation to maintain and improve design standards and a determination to achieve and succeed
Strong organizational skills
