Job description

The University of Evansville Athletics Department is seeking a driven and qualified Graduate Assistant (GA) Sports Performance Coach with a dedicated focus on Men's Basketball. This position is designed for an aspiring strength and conditioning professional who is ready to immerse themselves in the physical development of elite collegiate athletes.
As a GA Sports Performance Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing the physical preparation of our basketball student-athletes, working in lockstep with the coaching staff to optimize performance, prevent injury, and foster a championship culture. If you have the technical expertise and the competitive drive to work at the Division I level, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
This role offers a unique opportunity to manage a primary sport while gaining broad experience across a diverse athletic department. Your main duties will include:
  • Basketball Performance Oversight: Serve as the primary point of contact for the physical preparation of Men's Basketball, implementing strength, conditioning, and recovery programs tailored to the demands of the sport.
  • Program Implementation: Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance in executing training protocols for all other varsity sport teams, ensuring a cohesive standard of excellence.
  • Facility Management: Maintain and oversee the daily upkeep of the weight room, ensuring equipment is safe, clean, and organized.
  • Administrative Support: Perform daily tasks and operational duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director to ensure the Sports Performance department runs efficiently.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Professional Certifications: Must possess either CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) credentials.
  • Safety Certifications: Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required.
  • Attributes: High level of professional discipline, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a demanding, high-performance environment.
  • Availability: Must be available for early mornings, nights, weekends, and team travel as the basketball schedule dictates.
