Job description

Description ****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Title: Casual Hire - Men's Basketball Camp Coach Hiring Unit: UHM Athletics Location: Basketball Date Posted: June 5, 2026 Closing date:Continuous recruitment Full Time / Part Time: Part-time Other Conditions: Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, 89 day hire, not to exceed 40 hours/week. Hours are based on camp schedule. Continuous recruitment until programmatic needs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist full-time staff with coaching at men's basketball camp by reinforcing positive attitudes and basketball techniques. Responsible for a group of participants and teach them basic basketball skills and techniques of the UH basketball coaching philosophy on an individual basis as well as in a group situation. Assist in the setting up and cleaning up different gym facilities.

Know, recognize, and comply with laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated Conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others have occurred or will occur. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification: Demonstrated ability to work with groups of children; camp or other group experience. Experience competing or coaching basketball at the high school or collegiate level. All positions require successful completion of a background check.
